Residence Hall Director - North Russell Hall
What is your favorite part about being a Assistant Residence Hall Director?
My favorite part about being a Residence Hall Director is having a front row seat to witness students discover something about Baylor or their residential community that makes them feel at home. Working with college students is such a special and thrilling way to spend my days—there is never a dull moment. I find a lot of joy in partnering with student leaders to create community so that our residents can form friendships, explore their own interests and beliefs, and grow as a young person alongside others within a caring community.
What does authentic Christian community mean to you?
I believe all people were created in the image of a triune God (Father, Son, Spirit) to live in community with God and our fellow humans as we learn to care for one another even when we hold diverse beliefs and worldviews. There is a freedom found in befriending someone who thinks differently than you, treating them as your neighbor, and loving them for who they are as they are. This does not mean we will never have conflict, but authentic Christian community offers us the opportunity to extend grace to others and pursue peace as we seek to love and care for one another. In doing so, we may more fully experience the love and grace of Christ ourselves.
