On-Campus Housing Contract
The On-Campus Housing Contract is a legally-binding document. When a student signs it, he/she is committing to living on campus for the timeframe indicated in the Contract.
First-year students who live in Brooks Residential College, Honors Residential College, or Teal Residential College and selected their community 1st - 4th on their housing application agree to a two-year Contract.
If a student has a question regarding the Contract, he/she can contact the Campus Living & Learning office at Living@baylor.edu prior to signing it.

Contract Release
A student will be released from the On-Campus Housing Contract for the following reasons:
Not attending the University – graduation, transfer, or withdrawal
Marriage
Participation in an academically sponsored study abroad, student teaching, or internship program out of the Waco area
Called to active duty for military service
Releases based on the criteria outlined above are granted through the student’s completion of the Fall or Spring Housing Cancellation Form (located under Forms & Requests in the MyHousing Portal) or the Student Not Returning Form.
Note: Students who participate in the Spring Housing Cancellation process and do not complete the required documentation before the assigned deadline will be assessed a $300 fee.
Yes. Students who do not meet the criteria for a contract release may submit a Contract Release Request in the MyHousing Portal under Forms & Requests. Students who submit this request are placed on the Contract Release Waitlist.
When considering students on the Contract Release Waitlist, CL&L's decision is based on its housing demand and available inventory. If demand for on-campus housing exceeds available inventory, CL&L may release students from their Contract.
Students remain bound by the terms of the contract and financially responsible for on-campus housing unless and until CL&L approves their release. If a student is released from their Contract, CL&L will notify the student via their Baylor email.
Students may receive a decision on their Contract Release Request at any time from the date they submit the request until the start of the contracted housing period. CL&L understands the uncertainty in the decision timeline is difficult. However, because a release depends on housing demand and available inventory, decisions on many requests cannot be made until late summer.
If a student has not received a decision and needs to finalize their housing plans, they may cancel their Contract Release Request through the MyHousing Portal at any time. Canceling a request ensures the student retains their on-campus housing and can move forward with their housing plans.
Unfortunately, because housing demand and available inventory change throughout the year, CL&L does not provide the chance of a pending Contract Release Request being approved.
