Housing Technology
Campus Living & Learning realizes that technology plays a crucial role in residents’ success at Baylor. Below you will find helpful information about the digital offerings in your room, how to connect or register devices, and where to find technology help.
AIRBEAR WPA2
AirBear WPA2 is Baylor’s on-campus wireless network. All residents can access this network with their Bear ID (First Name_Last Name) and password.
AIRBEAR - DEVICE
AirBear – Device is a wireless network only available in Baylor’s residential facilities, designed to host devices such as gaming systems, smart TVs, or streaming boxes/sticks that cannot log on to AirBear WPA2. If your device cannot join the AirBear WPA2 network, try the following steps. If following these instructions does not work, please contact HelpDesk+ for assistance.
Click the “Add” button
Enter the unique MAC address for the wireless component of your device. The MAC address looks like this: AA:11:C2:DD:EE:FF. It may be printed on a label on the device or will be available through an interface on the device. If you need help locating the MAC address, go online and search, “How do I locate the wireless MAC address for [your device name]?” If you need assistance locating your MAC address, contact HelpDesk+.
Once your wireless MAC address is entered, click the Submit button, and the device should be connected to Baylor’s wireless network
Digital ID
Need to set or reset your pin? Click the link below on your device, enter your Bear ID and password, and set your pin.
Wired Network
Each residence hall room includes at least one wired network port. The port is located either on a wall plate or beneath the wireless access point in the room. A network cable (Cat 5 or 6 with an RJ-45 connector) is required to use this port. If it appears the ports in the room are not working, please contact HelpDesk+ for assistance.
When you connect your device to the wired network, the system may authorize your device automatically and you will be connected to the Internet. If this does not occur, do the following using a device that is connected to the AirBear WPA2 network:
Click the “Add” button
Enter the unique MAC address for the wired networking component on your device. The MAC address looks like this: AA:11:C2:DD:EE:FF. It may be printed on a label on the device or will be available through an interface on the device. If you need help locating the MAC address, go online and search, “How do I locate the wired MAC address for [your device name]?” If you need assistance locating your MAC address, contact HelpDesk+.
Once your wired networking MAC address is entered, click the Submit button, and the device should be connected to Baylor’s wireless network
One additional note: Multi-port network switches can be used to expand the number of wired connections in a room; however, network routers are not allowed.
