Residence Hall Association
Residence Hall Association (RHA) is a registered member organization within the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH) and is affiliated with the Southwest region (SWACURH). RHA is made up of eight officers and two representatives from each on-campus housing community. RHA meets on a weekly basis to work towards the following purpose and goals:
Represent and act as the voice for all residence hall students
Develop programs and initiatives geared towards creating Christian community and objectives of Campus Living & Learning
Support the academic initiatives of Campus Living & Learning
Advise, make recommendations, and act as a liaison to Campus Living & Learning; this includes advocating for student needs and providing feedback to Campus Living & Learning leadership
Provide a forum for residence hall student leaders to share and disseminate information
Support other student organizations and campus partners invested in the success of Campus Living & Learning residents
Assist in creating a positive living environment
Represent Baylor at state, regional, and national student housing conferences
Traditional Annual Events hosted by RHA
Participating halls decorate their floors, dress up in costumes and pass out candy for the children and grandchildren of Baylor faculty & staff members. Monetary and canned good donations are collected during the event and given to Caritas, a local non-profit charity organization that provides food, clothing, household items and travel to those in need.
Homecoming Plank Competition
Each hall paints a wooden pallet with the opposing team's mascot or similar image to show Baylor's dominance on the football field. These are completed prior to the bonfire in order that current students may vote on their favorite pallet and alumni may enjoy each display. The winning hall receives a pizza party while the winning pallet (and all others) are used to help kindle the flames of the bonfire.
The Amazing Race Prize Event
Teams of 5 made up of on-campus residents compete in an Amazing Race style competition around campus on the night before DIA. The top 3 teams receive Baylor-inspired prizes.
